…As Official Documents ‘Choke’ Makafui Nunekpeku
Official documents have exposed the false allegations made by the Managing Director of TDC Ghana Ltd, Mr. Courage Makafui Nunekpeku, against the company’s former Protocol Officer and current Tema Central Constituency Secretary of the NPP, Mr. Ian Okwei.
The MD had accused Mr. Okwei of abusing his position to allocate TDC land to his wife.
The MD also alleged that the land in question was a designated public toilet site.
But the official site plan and EPA permit contradict this, confirming the land was earmarked for its approved purpose.
The revelations have sparked questions over why the MD leveled such claims, which collapse under scrutiny.
The documentary evidence clears Mr. Okwei of any wrongdoing making nonsense Mr. Nunekpeku’s wild accusations.
Far from abusing his office, the records show the land allocation was a legitimate transaction conducted by TDC itself.
Receipts, site plans, and permits obtained by this paper confirm that the transaction followed TDC’s official procedures and was approved at the highest level of the company — not by any individual staff member.
Under TDC’s regulations, no employee has the power to allocate land.
The process requires a formal application, approval by the Planning and Estate Departments, cost calculation, and the issuance of an offer letter signed by the Managing Director.
Allocation takes effect only after payment into TDC’s official accounts.
In 2021, TDC prepared a site plan and issued an offer letter. The applicant made payment of GH¢ 2,060.00 into TDC’s account for management fees and first year’s ground rent.
In 2025, a further payment of GH¢4,830.00 was made and receipted by TDC as development approval fees for Plot No. CPL/C5/V/66, Community 5, Tema.
Again, in 2025, TDC finalized the allocation, with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) granting approval for the intended use.
All payments were made directly to TDC Ghana Ltd and not to any individual.
Some observers suggest it may be linked to Mr. Okwei’s controversial dismissal from TDC, raising suspicions of a smear campaign.
