Credible information obtained by DAYBREAK indicates that an unnamed West African country has entered into an agreement with Northbridge Services Group (NSG), a United States–based private military company, to train its special operations forces.

NSG, headquartered in Tampa, Florida, is reportedly led by Chris Kelly, a recently retired member of the U.S. Navy’s elite special operations unit, DEVGRU, commonly known as SEAL Team 6.

Security analysts interpret the reported engagement within the broader context of mounting instability across the West African subregion.

Rising jihadist insurgencies, coupled with the expanding footprint of Russian-linked mercenary groups, have intensified pressure on regional governments to seek external military expertise.

NSG is not new to high-risk environments. In the early 2000s, the firm was contracted by a British company to assist in the rescue of oil workers in Nigeria.

Since then, it has operated in multiple conflict theatres, including Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, and, more recently, Ukraine.
